We went to Myrtle Beach again this year for the July 4th celebration. It was about a 12 hour drive from Indy. Other than a wreck that cost us 45min, the trip was pretty uneventful.

We came down the Saturday before and left the following Saturday. We watch fireworks at the beach again. Still the best fireworks display. Beats anything Indy has to offer.

Gina’s parents joined us for most of the week. We stayed at Aunt Elizabeth’s house and her mom and dad stayed with uncle Romano.
This trip was different from last year. Last year we played the tourist, but this year it was more about the family. We had family dinners every night. Alternating between Aunt Elizabeth’s house and Romano’s house. It was great to sit around after dinner and see everyone enjoy each others company and joke around.

Aunt Elizabeth hosted a couple of nights. The first night she had a Mediterranean dinner. Her family is Lebanese.
We had Tabouli (Salad), Kibbe (Lamb Meat Balls), Hummus, Baba Ghanoush (Egg plant Dip), Syrian Bread,  and stuffed grape leafs.

The second night she made a family favorite for the Marinaros. Nonna use to make Torta Di Riso. Gina had not had that for a very long time and everyone was excited to have that. Aunt Elizabeth dirtied every pan in the house twice making it. It was all very good.

It was great to see how close the family is even though we live so far apart from each other. We got to spend more time with aunt Elizabeth and Liza and the kids this year. Lots of night swims at the pool after spending the day at the beach or souvenir shopping at the Gay Dolphin.
And of course we had to finish off the trip with our traditional dinner at the Sea Captain’s House.
We had tons of fun at the beach and pool. The didn’t succeed at drowning me this year.

Here some pictures from dinner at Romano’s on the 4th.

After we spent the day at the beach we decided to rinse off at the pool and relax for a bit.

It was a busy first day.
Fun at the beach, then the pool, dinner at Romano’s, and then the fireworks.
Here we are at the beach for the fireworks.

We had to continue with tradition and go to Broadway at the Beach.
The girls got their air brushed T-Shirts like they did last year.
And like last year Heather’s was messed up and Gina made a special trip back
to get it fixed.

Second day at the beach. It was really hot that day.
The humidity and the heat was high. The sand felt like sitting in a sauna.
Luckily their was a good strong breeze and we had a couple of umbrellas
with us for shade.

The last night before Gina’s parent went back to Maryland, Dee Dee cooked us Pasta Norma.
We had a good time sharing the good food and company.
The week went by way too quick.
