We landed and made it thru customs very quickly. Much faster than I thought it would be.
I screwed up at the ATM and put in for dollars instead of Colones. Which we then had to go to the exchange place to convert it. I estimate we lost 11% of the money on that mix up. Luckily it was only $300.
We walked straight to the resort transportation person holding our name. They escorted us to a van and we were off.
The trip started out fine but once we got outside of San Jose it was pretty ruff and twisty.
The farther into the country we got the worse it was.
The driver would tailgate the truck or car ahead then pass on the left or the right. It was pretty hairy at times. But we made it.
They would stop and try to show us stuff but they couldn’t speak English. And we couldn’t speak Spanish. Plus we were feeling car sick and just wanted to make it to the hotel.
It was interesting to see how poor the people are here. Living in tin siding huts. Next to a nicer single room home made out of block. Even that house would be considered a dump back home.
Makes you appreciate things more.
Some video of the trip – these were the nicer roads. The others were too ruff to video and keep from getting car sick.
