Horse Back Riding

Today we went horse back riding. I have ridden horses a lot when I was a kid, and today was the first time I have had one fall on me.
We took a van to the horse farm and met some really nice guys handling the horses. While we were waiting for another two people to show up they had a couple puppies that were really cool. The female was all play.

Here he was trying to untie gina’s shoes.

The others arrived and we were off. They took us into the nature preserve and that is when things got interesting. I was thinking this was going to be well worn trails and pretty easy riding. They took us back into the jungle and the horses had a hard time walking on the path. Sheer cliffs were on some of the paths and for some reason the horses wanted to walk right on the edges. Little unnerving.

When we finally made it to the look out point, the view was great. Here are picture from the look out point.

This was a neat shelter made out of all concrete. Even the seats. The concrete was colored and cut to look like stone.

By this point we were all pretty sore from riding. The trip was 3 hrs total. My horse was tired from the beginning and was very unsure footed. It was also pretty skittish. Only wanted to follow.
The trip back was just as steep and rocky. Only down hill.
We made it back and we were a couple hundred feet from the barn when the horse broke into a run and was wanting to get back. About 30ft from the barn the horse tripped and fell. As she was going down all I was thinking was I need to get my feet out of the stirrups so I don’t get caught under the horse. All I could see was her face hitting the gravel, then we hit the ground. I must have bonked my head because I was feeling a little loopy.
The horses nose was pretty scuffed up and I was a little too.
I am glad it happened right at the end because I am pretty sore from it.

Overall it was a very cool trip.
