Today we hiked about 6 miles.
It started around 7:45am when our ride to the hanging bridges picked us up.
It was the same place that we did the zip lines yesterday.
The hanging bridges are thru the jungle and out over most of the trees. We did hiking thru the jungle between bridges. There were 10 bridges. It was a really nice set up. The path had open type of pavers to help guide you along. It was very peaceful walking along and hearing all of the sounds.
Here is some video of our thru the jungle.
Facebook moment.
After the canopy tour, we got dropped off in town again. This time we ate at Don Juan restaurant instead of Tico y Rico.
Gina had Fettucini Alfredo.
Funny we go to central America and all she wants to eat is pasta.
I had a chicken and rice dish with Peppers and onions. It was pretty good. Lunch is the high light of our day.
We might eat some fruit for breakfast, eat a big meal for lunch, then only have a lunch meat sandwich or just peanut butter and crackers for dinner. It gets light at 6 and dark at 6. We don’t go out after dark.
The food at the hotel is super over priced and not very good.
We walked around town for a bit and got some more stuff for the kids. Checked out another market we found. Then we took a taxi to the other side of Monte Verde to the humming bird sanctuary. We were able stand right next to the birds as they fed. I got several good shots with the big camera. They also had a very cool art gallery there and coffee shop.
We then started the long hike back to town. Along the way was a cheese factory that also made ice cream. We stopped in and Gina said the ice cream was really good. I’ll take her word for it. She also bought jalapeƱo cheese to have for her dinner.
We walked the rest of the way back to the hotel on the gravel roads that went up and down quite a bit. We both were pretty wore out by the time we climbed the last hill to our hotel.
For dinner Gina had herself cheese and crackers and a empanada that we found at a tiny bakery on the walk back.
I had a ham sandwich and a peanut butter and banana sand which. We joked that most people put on 5 ibs on vacation. But I think we have lost 5 with trying to live like the locals. Guess that is why nobody around here but the gringos are fat. They eat rice and beans and pollo all the time and walk every where.
Local police station.
Bring on the food!
Local wood art.
The cheese factory.
Inside the cheese shop.
Another dog that wanted to be apart of our pack. Every dog seemed to want to hang with us.
Gina finally got to see her water fall.
They don’t have diet coke. They call it light coke. They have the best tasting coke down here. It is nothing like our coke at home.
