We have been saying for years that we were going to the Bristol Race.
This Year we finally did it!
We signed up for a charter bus tour. We each paid $400 and they did everything for us. We just had to show up and get on the bus. They took care of the Hotel, all of the tickets and transportation. We didn’t even have to check into the hotel. They just handed us room keys.
Jake and I shared a room at the Comfort Inn that was about an hour and a half from the track.
Dallas and his wife came along too. Actually they were the ones that turned us on to the tour.
Dallas owns a Bar and the lady that owns the tour company was promoting at his place.
We left on a Friday night and arrived Sat Morning in time to sit on the bus some more while we waited for the rain to stop. Saturday was a wash out. No Busch race due to the rain. Man was it cold!
We spent the whole day on the Bus watching movies.
That night we went across the road to a hole in the wall bar and had steaks and beer. There wasn’t too much going on in Dolly Wood unless you had a car. So we hung out at the hotel and drank some Crown and 7. Dallas was pretty cool and so was his wife. He could really put them away. No wonder he owns a bar.
Sunday finally came and it was clear skies. It was even warming up. The Nextel Cup race was on!
We bought some souvenirs and went and found our seats. They were awesome! We were sitting close by the bathrooms and the concession stands and the seats were pretty comfy after sitting on that tour bus for 24hrs.
The race was the best NASCAR race yet. We could see the whole track and it was loud.
It really helped out that we had a scanner and could hear the drivers and MRN radio. It made the race that much better.
Race Results:
1 29 Kevin Harvick
2 38 Elliott Sadler
3 20 Tony Stewart
4 8 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
5 88 Dale Jarrett
6 48 Jimmie Johnson
7 77 Travis Kvapil
8 45 Kyle Petty
9 16 Greg Biffle
10 10 Scott Riggs
Harvick also won the Busch race that was rescheduled for Monday.
We all took a vote on the bus and everyone decided to head back home on Monday instead of staying for the Busch race.
