Dear Tyler,
You and I had to stay in the hospital for 48 hours following your birth. Daddy stayed with us the first night, sleeping on the fold-out couch in our room. I decided to let you stay in the nursery as I was very sleep deprived and exhausted. It was a long night as the nurses came in to check on me and push on my belly to check on my uterus every couple of hours. They brought you in to the room so that I could feed you whenever you were hungry.
All your sisters came to visit you on Tuesday. Big sister Bailey was home for 2 weeks on leave from her AIT with the Army in Ft. Huachuca in Arizona. We were so glad she was able to be home for your birth, but she was sad that she was going to have to leave to go back to Ft. Huachuca on January 3rd, but would be back home for good by the beginning of March, so she won’t miss too much.
There was a little bit of snow that day. For that reason and the fact that it was the Christmas holiday, we did not have many visitors. Erik and Andrea Vrobel came to visit that evening and thought you were simply adorable. Everyone that saw you commented on how beautiful you were.
Daddy did not stay the night Tuesday night. He needed a good nights sleep. I, once again, let you stay in the nursery so that I could get some sleep. Wednesday was a nice lazy day for you and I. I really enjoyed bonding with you and getting to know all your little noises and grunts and marveling at how perfect you were. I was amazed at how all your miniature features were so perfect. Daddy arrived late afternoon after spending the day picking up the house and getting things ready for your homecoming. Andrea Vrobel stopped by again that evening as well.
I had been waiting anxiously all day for your circumcision. It was supposed to have been done around 11am, but the doctor got tied up and they didn’t end up taking you back for it until around 6pm. I was nervous about having it done just mere hours before being sent home, but you did very well.
Finally, it was 9:05pm and we were on our way home to start this new amazing phase of our lives with our new baby boy!!!
Love, Mommy
