Memorial Day Camping 2009

This weekend we met up with Jake’s clan and went camping at the Riverbend camp grounds. The Weather was perfect and we managed to get two spots right on the river.

Jake was already set up and had drowned a few worms friday evening by the time we got there.
I started setting up our new tent and found out that the zipper to the front was broken right out of the box.
I was able to McGiver a temp fix with a fishing hook, a fishing weight and some fishing line.
I guess the Cub Scouts Finally paid off.

After we got settled in, Jake grilled up some burgers and dogs.
We had a heck of a time getting the campfire started due to some damp wood. But we didn’t give up and thanks to our small tent fans, we had a fire going good enough to make some smores.

Saturday, Jake’s dad brought the pontoon boat over and we launched it into White river.
Jake, Tim, and I took it for a test drive up white river and I managed to get us stuck. You would think if you kept it in the middle, and away from the banks, it would be deep enough.

Later that evening we all played a game of whiffle ball until we couldn’t stand the mosquitos and longer.
I managed to pick up a new nick name this weekend. Everyone was calling me Jockstrap. This was because of the previous weekend when the girls thought it was funny that I had a jockstrap. Bailey’s comment was “You’re an athlete??”.
Everyone at camp thought that story was pretty funny.

Later that night the big excitement around camp was a few drunks a couple sites down. They were pretty rowdy.
Gina woke up not feeling so hot. Got up to get some water out of the cooler, and managed to wake up Shawna, and Timi. Who then woke Jake up.
They were sure that those guys were stealing our beer. The three of them came out of the camper with Jake leading the way. It was just Gina sitting by the fire drinking some water at 2:30 in the morning.
